Salambo in Addis

Salambo discovering Ethiopia

About Salambo in Addis

I wrote this blog between 2011 and 2015 when living in Addis Ababa with my family. It was the first time I lived on the African continent, the city and the country were very new to me, I wanted to write about the experience. Eager to discover its rich culture and heritage, I travelled extensively throughout the country and met many people, both Ethiopian and foreign.  Each experience and trip as they unfolded were the subject of a blog entry. It was my way of recording the moment and the time I lived there.  Since then, Addis Ababa has been transfigured with the massive construction programme that started as we arrived  and which is still on-going. I thought I’d keep this blog online, even if not active, as a modest account of a certain period of time in Ethiopia.

Your views can be sometimes taken as Marie-Antoinette-esk but are still intersting.

OMG, not Marie-Antoinette!! That resonates for the French person I am!! Anyway, I can’t hide the fact that I am living in privileged conditions here (it wouldn’t be honest), but I hope I can still keep enough distance to observe life. Thanks for your comment and thanks for reading what I write…:)

    Hi Dom

It’s great for a homebody like me to feel like I’m sharing the experiences of living somewhere outside Europe… nel bene e nel male. I bet your time in Addis will be one of those life experiences that you will look back upon with great affection and nostalgia.

When are you coming through Rome again, I’d love to see you!

I’m really enjoying the design and layout of your site.
It’s a very easy on the eyes which makes it much more pleasant for me to come here
and visit more often. Did you hire out a designer to create your theme?
    Great work!

Thank you! It’s a WordPress theme…i was actually thinking of changing it because of the navigation, hard to find older pieces, no?

First of all: Thank you! You write so beautifully about Ethiopia (my birth country), I am happy I found this page. Do you have Instagram too?
